BBC iPlayer Radio on Android (Nexus 7)

Today the BBC issued an update to the excellent BBC iPlayer Radio app for Android. The update improves the reliability of the audio stream for the app but it doesn’t address the problem Samsung users are having with it. The BBC say that Samsung’s Galaxy S2, S3 and Note still have issues with the app and that it relates to a firmware issue on the devices. The release notes say the BBC are working with Samsung and mobile operators to rectify the bugs as soon as possible.

The app is a dedicated version of iPlayer for radio and has live radio as well as catchup content. The app is free from the Google Play Store.

Thanks for the feedback so far, we are taking the issues with some Samsung devices (in particular S3, S2 and Note running 4.1.2) very seriously, and we are working with Samsung and the mobile operators to rectify this firmware bug as soon as possible.
This update provides increased reliability with audio stream playback, although it will not fix the above firmware issue we are seeing with some Samsung devices.
