Sky Movies on Android

Sky have release Sky Movies for Android devices. There was already a Sky Movies app for iOS and now Sky Movie subscribers can watch Sky movies on Android phones and tablets as well as get movie and EPG information.

To watch movies you will need to have your device registered for Sky Go so it doesn’t bypass the two device limit. Android 2.2, 2.3, 4.0, 4.1 4.2 and 4.2.1 is supported and I installed it on my Nexus 7 without any problems.

So if you’re a Sky Movie subscriber with an Android device get the app from the Google Play Store

Which Android devices can I use the Sky Movies app on?

Sky Movies is supported on all Android devices however the streaming of Movies is only supported on a range of Android devices running on 2.2, 2.3, 4.0, 4.1 4.2 and 4.2.1 operating system. For a full list of supported devices visit: www.sky.com/skygo

Do I need to be a Sky customer to use this application?

You don’t need to be a Sky customer to use this application, but you do need to be a Sky customer to remote record a movie or to watch Sky Movies.

How do I watch a movie in the Sky Movies app?

To watch Sky Movies, simply press the watch icon on the movie card of your choice and the stream will begin to play.

How do I register a device to watch Sky Movies?

You must register your device in the Sky Go app. To do this, please visit the Sky Go app and your device will automatically register the first time you sign in from the device.

How do I remote record a movie?

If a movie is on one of the Sky Movies channels in the next 7 days, a red icon saying “Record” will show on the main screen for a movie, tapping this will send a request to the Sky+HD box associated with your Sky Account.
If you haven’t already logged into the application when you try to remote record a movie then you will be presented with the chance to login with your SkyID and then send your recording request.

How do I find a cinema?

To find a cinema, visit the At the Cinema category and select the Find a Cinema card. From here, select the Find Local Cinemas button and the app will search for cinemas close to your location. Alternatively, you can find a cinema showing a particular movie by selecting Find Cinema from the movie card in the At the Cinema category.

How do I search for a movie by title, actor or director?

Select the magnifying glass icon in the navigation bar and enter your search term in the search box. You will then be presented with a list of results split by title, actor and director according to your search. Selecting one of these will take you to the movie of your choice.

How do I set a movie reminder?

To set a reminder for a movie in the Sky Movies category, select the listing graphic on the movie card and select the reminder icon under the time of the airing you wish to watch.
