Bradley Mauk the developer behind the Windows Phone 7 Media Center remote control app has launched a remote control app for Windows 8 and Windows RT. With the app you can remote control Windows Media Center from a Windows 8 or Windows RT device. You can browse your music, pictures and video collection from the app, you can search by artists, songs or albums and queue up playlists.

Also in the app are remote control options where you can do all the usual remote control things like Play, Pause, Fast Foward and control the volume of playback plus you can use gesture controls to swipe through the menus. Extenders like the Xbox 360 are supported.

The app costs £3.49 from the Windows Store and you need a listener app on your Media Center machine which is available from the developer’s site. The app looks fantastic and is going to be great on a device like the Microsoft Surface.
