As Windows 8 doesn’t come with DVD playback its a great opportunity for companies like Cyberlink to sell media playback application. Cyberlink  have launched a Windows 8 Update Center which checks to see if your Cyberlink software is compatible with Windows 8 or if it needs a patch or an upgrade.

I gave it a try on my Windows 8 Pro laptop and as I don’t have any DVD playback software installed it rightly pointed that out and offered to sell me PowerDVD.

If it does check if you have out of date Cyberlink software and offer free fixes I think it’s a great idea.
