At Google I/O today Google announced it’s own branded Nexus tablet. The 7 inch Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) powered device has a 1200 x 800 display, NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor, NFC, wifi and Bluetooth and is built around the Google Play store.

Google are talking per-orders for the tablet now for $199.99 and comes with a $25 Google Play credit. Not sure about UK availability at the moment. It looks more like a Kindle Fire competitor than an iPad killer.

So by the end of the year we will have tablets from Google, Microsoft and Apple. Are the days of OEMs over?
