Waterstone's

In an effort to reverse their decline in sales Waterstones are set to introduce a e-reader next year. There was a time I used to enjoy browsing books in Waterstones but times change and I do my reading on my Amazon Kindle these days as do many others. Amazon say they sell more digital books than paper books so Waterstones need to do something.

Waterstones was recently sold by the HMV Group to Russian businessman Alexander Mamut and a ebook reader could be a good way of starting to turn sales around.

James Daunt from Waterstones told the BBC:

“We in Waterstone’s need to offer you a digital reader which is at least as good, and preferably substantially better, than that of our internet rival, and you will have a much better buying experience purchasing your books through us,”

The e-reader is due to launch spring 2012 and as yet there are no details on technical spec.
