Buffalo have recently launched two new AirStation Wireless Routers and recently gave us a chance to take a quick look at them. The first is a N150 ADSL2+ modem router model number WBMR-HP-GNV2.

The device looks well built and can be stood horizontally or vertically with the supplied stand. It was also nice to see all necessary cable being supplied – including and ADSL lead

The enclosed setup CD ran automatically on start up and was very clear to follow:

Having the list of items in the box is a really nice touch

I wasn’t able to test the ADSL connection in the short time I had the unit but did set it up as an access point

The initial setup didn’t seem to give an option to change the Wi-Fi Encryption key or SSID name.

My setup crashed at this point and I had to go to the web interface which was straightforward as it had accepted my revised IP address.

For a standard Wi-Fi router this is pretty comprehensive (although no DDWRT)

It does everything the average user will want and then some – WMM_EDCA is pretty scary stuff

In terms of performance I didn’t get anywhere near the quoted 150mpbs-  my tests maxed out at about 3.5mbps but the range was really good. I managed to get over 100 meters away outdoors although obviously your mileage may vary depending on line of sight and walls.

So first impressions are a fairly good a nice router with good features and reasonable performance although I could not see any mention of IPV6 support.
