The Plex for iOS has had a major rewrite that is going to make it a really useful app. Plex for iOS enables you to browse and play video, music and photos form a Plex Media Server installed on a Mac or PC. It works over your local network or over even 3G which a bit for port forwarding.
The new version fixes some of the initial problems and has a much better look and feel, improves the streaming performance and quality and has TV output either by a cable or experimental Airplay support. The app is available via the app store for $4.99 / £2.99 and you can get the server from http://www.plexapp.com/
