While Microsoft don’t really have a compelling answer to the iPad yet (maybe Windows 8 will bring us that) they have started promoting some new Windows 7 Slates. The latest adverts show us an Asus Slate PC that has a pen and touch interface. One of adverts highlights how the slate can be using for playing games  “It’s Very PC” the ads says and then the slates gets undocked and used a drawing surface “It’s Not Very PC”

The other advert shows of the media potential of a Windows slate, actually the ads are not that bad and it’s probably one of the best way Microsoft can promote it’s ecosystem by showing the flexibility of Windows and I am sure going forward they are going to do more of this kind of marketing. The slate (an ASUS Eee Slate EP121 priced just over $1000) does look nice but I can’t help being reminded of my HP TC1100 Tablet PC with detachable keyboard which I had sometime around 2005.
