imageI read the rumours that Apple are going to be bringing out a new Apple TV, loosing 1080p playback but gaining apps and selling at $99. It sounds like Apple are going to scrap the current flavour of the box and go for an low cost iOS device (like the iPhone) and be priced at $99. The story on Engadget is that the box will not be able to handle 1080p and will be geared up for streaming from iTunes. I know some people will be upset by this restriction but Apple targeting the broadest market rather than enthusiasts seems to be working for them in some markets

ITV logo.svgThe biggest thing that jumped out to is the that the Apple TV is to be renamed iTV which as all Brits will know is the name of the UK largest independent television network and which I can’t see going down very well with the UK company. Given it’s 50 odd year history in the UK I can’t see them wanting to give up the name and it’s pretty entrenched in the UK mindset, I can’t imagine Corrie on any other channel! Maybe Apple will try and push it out with that name anyway, I am sure ITV could do with some cash at the moment.
