Yesterday at CeBIT ARCHOS announced two new touch screen tablets running Google’s Android OS. The ARCHOS 7 and ARCHOS 8 Home Tablets are aimed at home users and could be an interesting addition to the home network. The ARCHOS 7 is powered by a 600mz ARM 9 processor and has wifi and USB. They would make great devices for browsing the web and watching videos, I can see them being useful for home automation control plus as its powered by Android there are a lot of opportunities for developers to come up home control apps . The ARCHOS 7 starts at £129 for the 2GB model and £149 for the 8GB model and will be available from April.

The larger ARCHOS 8 Home Tablet is designed for web browsing and comes with a photo frame app (and a very large bezal) which is priced at £129.

I really like the look of the smaller tablet and I could see some interesting uses of one and at £129 its very tempting…
