Ok so since I posted about the new DVBLink network server I have been getting a lot of questions about US tuner support. I wasn’t totally sure on this so I thought I would go to the horse’s mouth and ask Oberon over at DVBLogic. Below is his reply which has both good and bad news for US users. If anyone with technical knowledge of ATSC/CableCard would like to help DVBLink with this get in touch and I will pass on your details.

Hi Garry,

Thanks! It is indeed a big step for us. And luckily enough it works rather stable for the first beta 🙂
I have seen the questions from US users on DVBLink. Unfortunately TVSource does not support ATSC/CableCards yet. It does support US satellite by working with Genpix tuners. We have a number of users happily using TVSource with it. However in this case users have to actual decrypting via plugins.
Analogue tuners are not supported at all due to the nature of DVBLink operations.
So not very good news for US users. It happened to be historically that way as ATSC was supported from the beginning by MediaCenter and there was no need to do anything else.
We have plans to support ATSC/cableCard etc. This will happen already after release of current v2. The thing is a bit complicated as we are European company and can hardly access US signal types. We’ll see what we can do here. As a minimum we can offer our SDK to those who would like to build support for it.
