TPMC-3X

Crestron have announced a new Windows CE based wifi remote control that is designed to work with the their home automation systems, the MPC-3X" has 27 programmable buttons, a 2.8-inch QVGA display and 802.11a/b/g wireless networking. While its designed to work with the company’s own systems it does have Windows Sideshow built in so you would be able to control Media Center, browser the guide data and get news updates on it.

It’s a real shame we haven’t seen that many sophisticated Windows Media Center remote controls that have Sideshow on them, the Ricovision remote disappeared and was very expensive anyway. Other than a tech preview for Windows Mobile there is very little out in the wild supporting Sideshow and I would not be surprised to see it die completely in the future which is sad as it had real promise

  1. The MS Sideshow team need to fix the Media Center sideshow gadgets first as they don’t work on Vista TV Pack or Windows 7 !
