I wonder how much flack from the Apple fanboys this guy will get for his post. If you like the form factor of the Apple Mac mini buy can’t live without Windows Media Center then this guide will be useful for you. The article on Krunker.com details how to install Vista on to a Mac mini, the reason was simply that the poster liked the form factor of the mini and loved Media Center. The model modified was a low end 1.83 GHz Core Duo with 1GB of RAM and first thing that was done was to upgrade it to 2GB. He used Boot Camp to get Vista running on the Mac and a HDHomeRun TV Tuner. Now looking past the pros and cons, how does the Mac mini hold up as a Media Center box? Very nicely indeed! I’ve been running the Mac mini as a MCE box for the last three plus weeks and it’s performed flawlessly. The system is more than powerful enough to handle Windows Vista and Windows Media Center. It easily handles Media Center Extender connections from the Xbox 360. It also served double duty as a file server for my home network. All in all, I was very impressed with using the Mac mini as a Windows Vista MCE box.
