OL I am getting tried now, 3 days of walking the halls and carrying my bag is getting to me, but it’s worth it to see some of the cool stuff. Today I had a tour of Lifewares Next Gen Home.

This is a simulated home setup to show off Home Automation, Lifeware and Windows Media Center. Actors take you through the home showing off different usage. So they have a kitchen with the cooker linked in to the Media Center system, a living room with home theatre and home automation for things like lights and security,  and a bedroom. It’s all done in a fun lighthearted way and they did a good job of hiding the technology and showing how seamlessly it connects together. For example when the door bell rings Media Center pauses the DVD, turns the lights up and shows a security camera picture on a UMPC. I interviewed the Lifeware guys so look out for that soon.

I also caught up with Tim Cutting from Niveus, like we did last year we walked the floor with the video camera and had some fun looking for Sideshow devices (we found only one, where did they all go since CES 2007)

I also got chance to talk a look at HP’s MediaSmart TV and Extender and I must say I am impressed, the functionally of the Extender is great. It is not just an Extender it has some nice HP software for playing networked and local content. Again I got an interview and some video to show that off.

Then I visited Microsoft Press Tent and had a look at their Media Center Setup. They had Extenders from HP, Linksys, Niveus, Dlink and Samsung

The Dlink stand was disappointing as they have no Media Center PC, so they could not demo their Media Center Extenders, which is strange and the guy on the booth didn’t know much about Extenders or Media Center.

Then tonight I had dinner with a group of bloggers including James Kendrick and Kevin Tofel from JKontherun, the whole GottaBeMobile team, Steven Hughes and many others. CES is great for meeting up with people you normally communicate with over Skype or Email

In a few hours I have to be up and out to see Linksys and this is a meeting I am looking forward too as so far other than the Xbox 360 Linksys is the only company brining Extenders to Europe
