Today was Microsoft’s big hardware event where they celebrated 10 years of Surface. At the event Microsoft launched updated Surface Pro, Surface Laptop and Surface Studio and disappointingly there was no update for the Surface Go, Duo or anything unexpected. The updated devices are great but very much an evolution of the range.  It’s a shame there was no one more thing moment on the 10th anniversary of the Surface launch.

Surface Pro 9

The Surface Pro 9 has been updated and this time there is a ARM powered 5G version using the SQ3 processor. There is also a 12th gen Intel processor with USB-C / Thunderbolt. Prices start at £1099 for the i5 version and £1299 for the 5G SQ3.

Surface Laptop 5

The new Surface Laptop has been updated with 12th Gen Intel chips and Thunderbolt 4. There is the option of i5-1245U or i7-1265U CPU which Microsoft say has improved performance (up to 50% over the Laptop 4) and longer battery life. There is a choice of 8GB, 16GB or 32GB and 256GB, 512GB and 1TB options. There are no AMD options this time. For ports there are USB-C / Thunderbolt 4, USB A and audio headset ports.

The laptop comes in platinum, matte black, sandstone and a new sage colour. Prices start at £999.

Surface Studio 2+

The Surface Studio has finally got an update with an 11th gen processor and not the 12th gen that the new Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 have. Starting at £4699 I don’t think I will be pre-ordering that!
