Exactly a year about today (28/06/2021) Microsoft made available the first preview of Windows 11. Windows Insiders on the dev channel where able to install the preview OS and try out the new start menu, task bar and other changes. Unlike previous releases of Windows, Microsoft had (and still has) a restrictive hardware requirement which meant many devices are not able to run the OS.

The first build was 22000.51 and missed things from the finished version like the search bar but for a preview OS it was pretty feature complete. We are now on build 22000.739 with the first major update coming to Windows 11 in the next few months.

Here is my first impressions video from last year with my guide to what’s new in the 22H2 update which is available now for Windows Insiders.
