If you are having trouble starting up your Windows 10 PC, Microsoft have a tool built into Windows that helps you create bootable USB recovery drive. The drive enabled you to boot up your PC and gives you access to Windows troubleshooting tools, so you can do things like un-install and update, reset your PC and gives you access to the command line for advanced recovery options.

You will need a USB drive bigger than 1GB and a working Windows 10 PC.

  1. Put the USB drive into a working Windows 10 PC
  2. Launch the Windows 10 Recovery Drive by typing Recovery Drive in the search box.
  3. You do not need the system files so you can uncheck the box and then click Next.
  4. Select your USB drive and click Next
  5. Windows will then go off and create the recovery drive on the USB stick.

You can then take the USB recovery drive to your PC and boot into the recovery tools. You will have to make sure your PC is set to boot from USB (a setting normally found in the BIOS).

You will then have access to the recovery options in Windows 10:
