With ever increasing traffic on the roads a dash cam is becoming an essential item for drivers. The Thinkware Q800 Pro dash cam has everything you need to protect yourself on the road.

The kit comes with the front and rear cameras, hard wiring kit, mounting clips and sticky pads and a 32GB SD card. The front camera records 1440P / 140 degree video at 30Fps with the rear camera recording at 1080P. Both have low light recording modes using Sony Exmor R STATVIS image sensor. I used an optional cigarette lighter adaptor rather than hard wire it in but it was all really easy and simple to get it wired in and working.

The dash cam has various recording modes including incident and continues modes. In continues mode the cam continues record the front and rear camera output and then when the SD card is full it over rights the oldest recording. It also keeps incident recordings which it detects via the G sensor so if something happens it keeps the recordings separate from the continues recording. It also records the GPS location.

All the data can be viewed on an Android or iPhone via the Thinkware app and wifi or you can put the SD card into a Windows PC and use the full desktop app. All the apps enable to configure the system and view recordings. You can view telemetry from the camera including G, GPS location and speed. The apps are easy to use and simple to find and export the clip you need.

The video quality is excellent and having incident mode means you won’t lose a recording. There plenty of additional features like lane detection, collision alerts, speed camera alerts and the Thinkware cloud. The kit costs £297.65 from Thinkware.
