Microsoft have announced the next feature update to Windows 10. 20H2 is coming in the 2nd half of 2020 and will build upon the May 2020 Update that has just been released. This is the same pattern as last year with 20H2 being a minor update to Windows 10 just as 19H2 was a minor update to 19H1.

Microsoft say the changes to 20H1 will be delivered as a serving update to the May 2020 rather than a full image install like the 20H1 update. That means it will not get a new build number, instead it be a point update to 19042 (20H1’s build number). As for feature, the main change seems to be the installation of new Chromium version of Microsoft Edge. Just as 19H2 I am not expecting many other new features.

Build 19042.330 has been released to Windows Insiders on the beta channel (or slow ring as its still called) and includes the new Microsoft Edge as well as KB4557957 .

Once change Microsoft have made to the testing process this time is that all Insiders will get all of the features at the same time rather than the way they switched features on and off during the 19H2 development which was tricky for Windows Insiders to know what they were testing.

Lets hope now 20H2 is ready for testing there will be some new features coming to the fast ring (soon to be Dev channel).
