Did you know that Windows 10 has a built in mail app that will works with Gmail as well as accounts from Outlook.com, Hotmail and others? The Windows Mail app is a great alternative to Gmail in the browser, it works offline and you can have multiple accounts in the app. It also syncs your Gmail calendar with the Windows Calendar app.
Getting Gmail connected with the Windows 10 mail app is really simple and in this video I walk through the process of adding Gmail to the Windows Mail app in just a few steps. It even works if you have enabled two factor authentication with your Gmail account.
