Windows 10 has hit the 1 billion monthly usage milestone Microsoft have announced. After 5 years on the market Windows 10 has finally hit the billion mark, Microsoft were hoping to get to that mark by 2017 but that was including Windows phone devices Windows 7 upgraders and we know how that didn’t go exactly to plan. Included in the numbers are Xbox One, HoloLens and IoT devices.

Microsoft say they have over 80,000 different models and configurations running Windows 10 which highlights how flexible Windows is as platform. It’s running on mini-tablets, laptops, Surface, desktops, gaming machines and powering Windows Mixed Reality.

There is a lot to look forward to as well with new devices platforms like the Surface Pro X, Surface Neo, Window 10X and Xbox Series X.

Today we’re delighted to announce that over one billion people have chosen Windows 10 across 200 countries resulting in more than one billion active Windows 10 devices. We couldn’t be more grateful to our customers, partners and employees for helping us get here.

Reaching a billion people with Windows 10 is just the beginning. We will invest in Windows not only within Windows 10 for PCs but also across many other Windows editions, serving diverse customer needs including Windows IoT, Windows 10 Teams edition for Surface Hub, Windows Server, Windows Mixed Reality on HoloLens, Windows 10 in S mode, Windows 10X and more.
