In build 18970 of Windows 10 20H1 Microsoft introduced a new cloud recovery feature. The new feature enables you to reset your PC with files downloaded from Microsoft rather than the installation files stored on your local PC. Depending on your bandwidth downloading from the cloud can be faster than the PC having to re-assemble the installation files from your machine, also if you have corrupt media on your machine getting a fresh download is a better option.

The reset option can be initiated from Settings/Recovery in Windows 10 or the Windows Recovery environment. In this video I try out the Reset option from the cloud and see how the process works.

Windows 10 20H1 is the update due to come to Windows 10 early next year and is currently available to Windows Insiders on the fast ring.
