In this video, I unbox and setup the D-Link DIR-1960 Smart Mesh router. The router supports 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11a, Wave 2 wireless dual band and MU-MIMO technology. It has 4 x gigabit LAN ports and a high speed USB 3.0 port. As you can see in the video the setup of the router was very simple and quick to get started using D-Link’s smart phone app and a QR code to get started.

The router supports parental controls, guest networks, quality of service and a DLNA media server.

The router support Mesh extenders so you can extend the range of the wifi coverage with additional D-Link extenders. I found the signal strength of the D-Link router to be slightly less than some devices I have used so to cover my whole home I am going to need at least one extender. I will be testing these out soon.

In the video I walk through the setup and examine the features available on router plus I also setup it up with my Amazon Alexa so I can control the device via Alexa with command like “Ask D-Link to enable the guest wifi”

The router costs £89.95 on Amazon.
