I have been a Philips Hue owner for a couple of years and to control either I use the Philips Hue app or Amazon Alexa but sometime you just want a simple light switch. Especially if you have a none techie in your house.

The Philips Hue Wireless Lighting Dimmer witch is a simple four-button switch, which you can control your Phillips Hue system.

Setup

Included in the box is the switch, which magnetically clips on to an included wall mount and a spare set of batteries. The wall mount has sticky pads on it so you can place it on the wall or you can use the screw eye holes to wall mount it.

Getting the switch setup is very simple. Just pull out the plastic tab and then use the Philips Hue app to add the switch. Once added you can select which room you want it linked to. So you could have it controlling your living room, bedroom or whatever you room you want to control.

Configuring

There are four button on the unit: On, brightness up, brightness down and off. You can set up to four scenes you can control by the on button. In the app you can select what scene the first, 2nd , 3rd and 4th presses of the button select. I have set mine up to turn on the lights to the last switched on scene on the first press and then the rest of the options cycles through scenes I have created in the app. A scene can control multiple lights in a room, so you have a lot of control over your lights with just the one button.

It would be good if you could re-allocate the brightness up and down buttons to do something else but I could not find a way to do that.

If you want to have smart lights but still want the simplicity of a good old-fashioned switch then this is the device for you. The Philips Hue Switch is costs £19.99 from Mobilefun.co.uk.

Thanks to the buys from mobiefun.co.uk for the sending me the unit to review.
