TicWatch C2 Smart Watch Review

The TicWatch C2 is Mobvoi latest smartwatch with an affordable price with interesting features. Priced at £179.99 makes it an interesting option for someone looking to get a smart watch without the premium price.

Design

The TicWatch C2 has a 1.3 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 360 x 360. There are two buttons on the device. One of them brings up the all apps list and has an orange colour in the indent and the other is a shortcut to the TicHealth app, which you can customise to launch your favourite app. Well it should, each time I changed the action to bring up the Google Pay app it ended up changing it back to the TicHealth app. I try this a few times and it changed it back each time but without any sort of pattern to it.

The front of the watch is stainless steel and comes in black, silver or rose gold finish. The black and silver watches have a 20mm leather strap and the rose gold version comes with a 12.8mm strap. You can change the straps if you want something like a silicon strap. The watch is feels light and comfortable to wear, the stainless steel front looks smart, rather than cheap looking as some android wear devices can have a tend to do. Mobvoi rate the watch at IP68 which means it will be fine to use outside in the rain but you can’t go swimming in it.

Wear OS

The C2 runs Wear OS from Google (formally known as Android Wear) and has all the standard Wear OS apps like Google Maps, Agenda, Alarms and the Google Fit apps. It also comes with a selection of TicHeath apps including TicExercise, TicRanking, TicPulse. It also prompts you to get active when you have been sat down for a while. You can also install apps from the apps Google Play Store that are designed for Wear OS. With Wear OS you can swipe in from the left, it brings up the Google Assistant, and swiping in from the right brings up a health dashboard using the TicHealth app.

The C2 has GPS for tracking your walks and runs and it also works with Google Maps so you can use turn by turn navigation on the watch. There is also support for Google Pay, which works great but some reason disappears off the apps list from time to time, restarting the watch brings it back on.

All the apps load quickly and there is no lag going from screen to screen. It has a snapdragon Wear 2100 processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB storage. The storage can be used for storing music via the Google Music app and listening to via Bluetooth headphones.

Battery Life

I found I get about 1.5 days out of a full charge, which works for me as I charge the watch overnight. Switching on WiFi takes the battery life down it down just for over a day. I don’t use wifi as I am happy to have it paired up with my phone. The watch comes with a charging cradle which clips on to the watch, it is not wireless.

So after a couple of week’s with TicWatch C2 I am very happy with my device. I love using Google Pay with it, its battery lasts the right amount of time for me and it looks great. For £179 the TicWatch C2 is great value for money and a great way of getting into wearables.
