It can be very frustrating when you cannot locate your phone, TV remote, wallet or other easy to misplace items so about a tech solution to help you out. The Esky key finder is simple kit for locating your items. The kit comes with 6 tags and a remote control. You attach a tag to your item and then when you want to find it you press a button on the remote.

The item tag then makes a loud beep and has a flashing light so you can find it. It uses radio frequency to locate the tag and each tag comes with a replaceable CR2032 battery, which should last between 6 and 12 months.

The makers say it has a 82 feet range, I found it covered the entire range of my house. One downside I can see is that there are no low battery warnings so you will need to test it every so often.

The key finder comes with a stand can leave it setup on table, double sided sticky pads so you can stick it on an item and keyrings so you can attach it to your keys.

It is not a replacement for a service like Tile, which uses Bluetooth LE to connect to your phone, this is a standalone setup that doesn’t link to a phone or web service.

The 6 tag set costs £21.99 from Amazon.

In this video, you can see how the key finder works and how effective I found it.
