Microsoft closed its Groove music streaming service last year and now they are killing off their iOS and Android Groove apps. Even without the streaming service the apps were still useful for listening to music uploaded to OneDrive. The apps will be retired 1st December 2018 and will not work beyond that date. Also from today, the apps are no longer available in the app stores. Music stored in OneDrive is unaffected and will still be available to listen to via the OneDrive app on iOS and Android but you do not get the same music experiences with the app as it’s just a basic file browser UI. The Groove app will still be available on Windows 10, Xbox and Windows Phone.
It’s sad to see the apps go away as at one stage it was the one of best cross platform music system available.
