Microsoft have made the Windows 10 April 2018 Update available via the Windows Update, Update Assistant and Installation Media Tool.

The best way is to head to Windows Update and check for Updates, this should kick off the download of the update labeled “Feature Update to Windows 10, 1803”. Next week it will start downloading automatically.

Another way is on the Windows 10 page and download the Update Assistant Tool or the media creation tool.

Windows 10 Update Assistant

Head over to the Upgrade Assistant page and click on Update Now which downloads the update tool, run it and then it will guide you through the upgrade process. The time it takes to update depends on your device specs. If you are unsure about the update I would wait until it gets installed via Windows Update but if you want to get started now you can use the tool. If you want to know what’s new with the update checkout my detailed post and here is my video guide to what is new.

Windows 10 installation media

You can make your own bootable DVD, flash drive or ISO of Windows 10 via the Windows 10 media creation tool. Go to Microsoft’s download page and download the installation tool, the program downloads an ISO of Windows 10 and then enables you to create a bootable device. This way you can apply the update to multiple devices without having to download the image each time.

Windows Insiders

If you like testing out Windows 10 then you can sign up to the Windows Insiders program, you can then select the Release Preview ring as you pace to receive builds. This will give you the latest production version of Windows 10 but not the test builds (you can switch to the fast ring for that).
