Last week Microsoft released Windows 10 Insider builds 16288 and 16362 and unfortunately it seems like they are causing a major issue with the Surface Pro 3. After installing the update if you shutdown the Surface Pro 3 there is a chance that they Surface will not start up again. Microsoft have confirmed there is an issue and they are looking into it:

It seems the only way to get a device back up and running again seems to be using a Recovery USB key, see this thread on Microsoft’s Answer site. To make matters worse build 16288 was released to the slow ring on Friday expending the amount of devices affected by the bug.

In the meantime if you have a Surface Pro 3 on the Windows Insider programme don’t shut down your machine! Hopefully Microsoft will have news for Surface Pro 3 owners today.
