Yesterday at an Acer event I got to play with Acer’s Windows Mixed Reality Headset. The headset is the developer addition due to be released later this year and while the device isn’t ready for reviewing yet I did get an interesting first impression.

Once setup it’s very impressive, Acer’s headset is very comfortable and wearing it for extended is no problem. I didn’t experience any motion sickness which I have done with phone based AR headsetup. In this video you can see some of the initial setup where you get orientated with the device and set your walking zone. You can see the Microsoft cliff-top house that you can navigate around by walking or using an Xbox controller (the released version with have a special controller).

It pretty amazing to see Windows apps running in the virtual environment that you can move around. In the video you can see some of the setup, the headset in action and I talk a look at how it connects up to a PC. It’s very hard to get across how the headset works in a video demo but you will get the basic idea.
