Today at Microsoft’s education event Microsoft revealed the latest edition to the Surface family the Surface Laptop. The new device is a traditional laptop style device with a 13.5 inch display (3:2 ratio) and is available in four colours (Platinum, Burgundy, Cobalt Blue, Graphite Gold). As with the other Surface device it looks very elegantly designed, it has a fabric covered keyboard, no grills for the speaker and no rubber bumpers on the screen. It comes with an i5 and i7 processor options, 14.5 hours of battery.

It has a single USB port, display port, headphone jack and SD card slot. No USB C port which is a really shame.

It comes with Windows 10 S which is the version of Windows than can only install apps from the Windows Store but it will have the option to be upgrade to Windows 10 Pro if you need to install apps from outside the store or use Pro feature like domain join (the Windows 10 Pro upgrade is free until the end of the year).

Priced at $999 for the i5 version, (probably £999 in the UK) and is available for pre-order now.
