Today Microsoft have released a major update to Windows 10. Windows 10 Creators Update doesn’t contain any massive changes to the OS but it does have many nice tweaks that really improve the Windows experiences. Here are my top 5 changes and if you want to know more about the Creators Update checkout my What’s New post.

Start Menu app folders

A simple thing but makes organising and arranging the start menu much easier. You can group apps together into folders much like you can on Windows 10 Mobile

Windows Overlay Mode

Developers have access to the new picture in picture mode. The Movies&TV app has the new window mode so it can float over the rest of the Windows desktop so you can watch a video while continuing to work with Windows. Other apps that use it include Skype so a video chat windows can float over the rest of windows.

Microsoft Edge tab previews

Edge now has Tab Previews that drops down to show each browser tab. there is a new “set aside” option that closes your currently open tabs and then you can open them up later which is a nice way to return to where you left off at a later date.

Night mode

Another small but really useful new feature is Night Mode. This is a new option that reduces the amount of blue light which helps relaxing and sleeping. Windows automatically reduces the blue light depending on the time sunset at your current location. It gives Windows a nice warm glow when using it in the evening.

New Windows Defender

Out with the old Windows Vista style Windows Defender and in with a modern security application. The first thing I do with any new PC install is get rid of the pre-installed MacAfee anti-virus and use Windows Defender instead.

Here is my video guide to the changes:
