The .net based Media Center alternative MediaPortal has been updated. The new version is 1.16.0 and now supports BD-J so bonus content from Blue-ray discs can be viewed via the apps. Also added is support for madVR a high quality video playback engine. There is a new Ares skin which has configurable buttons, DVB-T2 HD support and improvements to the client/server code.
MediaPortal now supports BD-J Blu-ray Disc Java (BD-J) allows bonus content on Blu-ray discs to be far more sophisticated than bonus content provided by standard DVD. This includes network access, picture-in-picture and access to expanded local storage. You need to install Java to use this feature.
