I know I am a bit late on this but over the weekend Microsoft released an update to the Windows 10 Movies & TV app (Film & TV if you are in the UK). The update which is for Windows Insiders on fast ring has improved cloud syncing, defaults to the UHD version of a video in the collection and you can now purchase and rent UHD videos directly from the app. It’s good to see Microsoft keeping up with the other movies stores by providing UHD content, I just wish the app was available on iOS and Android like the Groove apps.

The release notes say it’s for PC but it’s also available for mobile.

Details from the Feedback Hub:

Movies & TV App Update: version 10.16112.1015 for PC

Applicable Rings: Fast Store update

It’s now easier to sync video you’ve purchased in the Movies & TV app across your devices with the introduction of your video cloud collection.

When there is a UHD version of a video in our catalog, you’ll be prompted to purchase or rent the UHD version by default.

You can now purchase and rent UHD videos inside the Movies & TV app.
