Today was Microsoft’s big E3 press conference with Microsoft announcing a new Xbox One, new controllers and a brand new Xbox coming in 2017. The new Xbox One S is a smaller and slimmer Xbox One with built in power supply, 4K HD output for services like Netflix and it will come in in three versions:

1TB £299
Limited edition 2TB for £349
The new console is available for pre-order now and will be available August 2016.
The big announcement was a new console coming in 2017 currently called “Project Scorpio”. This will be an Xbox One and fully compatible with the current games and accessories and include true 4K gaming and “high-fidelity virtual reality” whatever that tuns out to be. There are few details yet but it looks like a big jump from the current Xbox One. Gamers and developers have been asking for a higher powered Xbox and Microsoft have to balance a new console without alienating current Xbox One owners.
There was no announcement about a streaming device or anything like that so that was either erroneous rumours or Microsoft were not ready to announce it just yet.

I was looking forward to the streaming device, but they may have held off because of the possible backlash from ‘hardcore’ gamers… about e3 being about games and NOT Media.
I think the streaming device is more likely to make an appearance when they announce the Windows Anniversary update (if it exists that is 🙂 )
