The Plex team have updated the Windows 10 Plex app improving the transcoding engine. AC3 audio can now no longer needs transcoding which means less load on your Plex Server. There are also fixes for music playback, server response and more.

Plex is one of the solutions featured in our new new Windows 10 book and is great alternative to Windows Media Center in Windows 10.

– (W10, HLS) AC3 audio can be remuxed and no longer requires transcoding

– (Remote) Photo casting got some love in the form of several bug fixes
– (Music) Music playback now continues if user leaves player page
– (Subtitles) Improvements in resiliency in regard to transient communication failures
– (HLS) Fix MP3 audio on transcoded videos
– (UI) Playlist popup items were not responding to touch
– (UI) Improve responsiveness of server picker
– (UI) Force landscape orientation of video page when casting content
– A number of bug fixes and user-reported crashes

  1. This app is useful for a touch screen experience, but as a replacement for Media Centre, the Plex home theatre app is absolutely the best way to go, works very nicely with a controller too 🙂
