Emby Server (FKA Media Browser) 3.0.5607 released, live TV coming soon

Emby server (what was called Media Browser Server) has been updated to version 3.0.5607. The main changes in this release are improvements to the DLNA stack. The Play To issue with the Xbox One have been fixed, transcoding issues with Sony Bravia’s has been fixed and there are new DLNA profiles added for VLC and Bubble UPnP.

Other changes include a new Now Playing Bar on the web interface and improvements when watching transcoded content on an Android TV & Fire TV.

The Emby team are teasing that “unmatched multi-device Live TV experience” will be coming soon which could be great alternative to Windows Media Center which would be good timing considering Microsoft will not be including Windows Media Center in Windows 10.

  1. I assume this ‘live TV’ protocol that they are teasing would coincide with the use of a tuner, just like WMC did? (So is EMBY seeing itself as the replacement for WMC?)
