Today HP have announced a new ultra-thin convertible premium PC that looks like could set a new standard for convertibles. The HP Spectre x360 is a 13.3 inch convertible that can be used in 4 modes including laptop mode and tablet mode. Its display is a Quad HD (2560×1440) touch display and HP say you can get 12.5 hours of battery life due to its PSR (Panel Self Refresh) technology.

The x360 is built with CNC aluminium chassis with polished metal sides and looks very slick. Inside there is the option of an i5 processor with 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD ($899.99) or an i7 with 8GB RAM and 256 SSD ($1149.99) with the top of the range model being an Intel Core i7 and 512GB SSD ($1399.99). There is also the option of an HP Active Pen for note taking with apps like OneNote.

Apparently HP with Microsoft on the device to enhance the WiFi performance and optimise Windows 8.1 for it. So maybe it won’t be filled with tons of crapware as is often the case with HP notebooks.

It’s a very nice looking device and it nice to see this device join other premium Windows laptops like the new Dell.
