Microsoft have updated the Mail, Calendar and People app for Windows 8.1. As is often the case with Microsoft apps the release notes are out of date so there are no details of what has changed but after tying the app today it certainly feels faster. On my Surface 2 I had many issues with the mail app not opening emails or being very slow to open them and since the update it works much better and there doesn’t seem to be any delay opening emails.

Two years on, and the Mail app STILL can’t print out a range of pages, or just a single page from an email. The Mail team clearly don’t have a clue how to use the printing subsystem of Windows 8/8.1. Either that, or they haven’t got a clue on what makes good UI design.
