Version 4 of OutcoldPlayer the Google Music app for Windows 8.1 released

Google Play Music is a great service, you can upload your own music to its cloud service and them play them back on you iOS device, Android device or via the browser but platforms that Google deliberately ignores is Windows Phone and Windows 8.1. Fortunately there are 3^rd party apps that use the Google Play Music unofficial APIs so you can use the service on a Windows 8.1 (or Windows 10) device.

OutColdPlayer is a Google Music app for Windows and it has just been updated to version 4. The new version of the app adds support for smart playlists (Songza’s playlists) if you have an All Access subscription and you can now store cached songs in the Music Library Folder for offline playback. You can now pin albums, artists and playlists to the Windows start page for easy access and there is a new Full Screen Player Mode.

You can now set a song to “Play Next” and there are thumbs up/down rating options. If you use Google Music and want to use it offline on a Windows device this is an app well worth looking at for £2.59 from the Windows Store.
