Back in May I reviewed Vidabox’s (one of our sponsors) LiivNAS media server, the server has automatic ripping features so you can put a DVD/Blu-ray into server and it will automatically rip, index and convert the media ready to play on a device like the Dune HD, Windows PC or a Raspberry Pi.

Vidabox have just updated the software on the servers so it now includes auto updating of media with missing meta-data, so if you archive a movie while you are offline the software will automatically add the metadata when Internet access is available again saving you from having to manually update the content. Also added is the automatic metadata tagging and organisation of existing content stored in ISO,MVK, MP4 and other formats. So if you already have an existing library of content the box will index and sort all the data for you.

You can read more information from Vidabox and the new ‘Drop-n-Rip’ software features are available now on new LiivNAS units, existing units can download the free update via the VidaBox site.
