Quick Review: Nokia Lumia Smartphone Cases

When you spend your hard earned money on a smart phone you want a case to protect it, there are a pleather of cases available and it can be hard to find the right one. Mobile Fun sent me a few cases to try out so here is a quick look at some of ones they sent me.

Lumia 1520

My main phone is a Nokia Lumia 1520 (see my review) which is a beautifully designed 6 inch phone and I didn’t want to have a big bulky case covering the design up. Nokia’s official case for the 1520 is the CP-623 protective flip cover which has a hard cover that clips on the back with a thin cover over the front. The back has holes for the camera and flash and does a good job protecting the phone, the front part has a felt backing so doesn’t scratch the screen and you can fold the front over and use it as a stand. As you expect for an official accessory the case fits perfectly and protects the phone very well, one thing I didn’t like about it is that there is no magnetic catch or clip so the cover doesn’t stay shut. Other than that I really like the case which costs £24.99.

Lumia 930

For the Lumia 930 I tried a ToughGuard rubberised case, this snaps on the back of the phone and protects the back of the phone from being scratched and it gives you a bit of extra grip on the phone. Obviously with it being a rear cover it doesn’t protect the screen but it doesn’t add any extra bulk. At £6.99 is decent cover.

Lumia 635

My son has a Lumia 635 and we struggled to find a decent cover for it, many stores haven’t stocked cases for the phone yet. The case that Mobile Fun sent me is the Krusell 630/635 Flip Cover that protects the front and rear of the phone and has a clear back. A clear back is a great idea as one of the selling points of the Lumia 635 is the colour snap-on backs and this case shows that off. The front has a soft plastic feel and should protect the phone well. As the case is specifically designed for the Lumia 630 and 635 it fits snuggly on the phone and you have access to all the phones buttons. As with the 1520 case I would prefer it if there was a magnetic clasp to keep the cover shut but apart from that my son really liked the case. Plus you can also still talk on it while the case is closed. The case comes in yellow, black and white and costs £17.99.

All three cases all well designed, the official Lumia 1520 is a great case and will be the case I use for my phone. I also really liked the Krusell case for the Lumia 635, it protects the phone and still shows off the coloured back. All three cases are available from MobileFun.co.uk
