Amazon Canada may have leaked the information last week but today its official, Microsoft have announced the Xbox One Media Remote. As we discussed on the podcast over the last couple of weeks, Kinect is ok as a remote but you can’t beat a dedicated remote for controlling media playback on the Xbox. The remote will be available in early March and will enable you to control Blu-ray playback as well as apps like Netflix. The remote is fairly basic with transport controls and there are also Back and OneGuide buttons on the remote.

The remote can also control your TV or receiver by making use of the Kinect IR blasting so you can have it control the power and volume of your TV. It’s also has motion activated back lights.

Microsoft say the Xbox One Media Remote will retail for $24.99 in the US and will be available worldwide.
