Plex have updated their Media Server with release 0.9.9 (very close to the 1.0 release). This update has shared syncing, so you will be able to grant permission to someone to sync with your server. So you could have different accounts for your family members all syncing content from your Plex server.

Also in the update is support for playing music and photos to a Chromecast dongle. It even supports transcoding for unsupported media formats on the Chromecast device. Plex has also added content mirroring via Chromecast. So when you are browsing your library on your Android device a mirror of the screen is displayed on the Chromecast dongle so you can see it on the big screen.

You will need the latest version of the Android app for Chromecasting to work and you will need a PlexPass subscription to enable shared syncing.

You can read the full blog post on the Plex blog.
