Back in July the great video player app VLC returned to the iOS app store and today version 2.1.0 has been release. There are lots of new features in the new version, the main ones seem to be UPNP discovery/streaming and FTP server discovery, streaming and downloading.
This means that you can use VLC on an iPad or iPhone to stream content from a UPNP/DLNA server on your own network or stream and download from an FTP server. There are other UPNP apps for iOS but it’s great to have it built into VLC which is my all round favourite video player app. Also in the update is the facility to play audio only media (music in other words), improved subtitle support and new language options.
This version is a new release with new features and numerous fixes:

– Add UPNP discovery and streaming

– Add Bonjour announcements for the WiFi Uploader’s website
– Add playback of audio-only media
– Add Deinterlace option (off by default)
