The Raspberry Pi camera board announced last year is now on sale from RS Components or from Premier Farnell/Element14. The Camera is a 5MP / 1080p video module that plugs in to the Raspberry Pi via the S5 connector and works with the Raspberry Pi Model A or B and costs £19.24 (including VAT). I have seen some great project ideas for the camera with the Pi so it’s going to be fascinating to see what the community comes up with. At the last Preston Raspberry Jam I heard of a toy Dalek controlled by a Raspberry with a camera steaming the video working patrolling corridors which sounds great!

Specs:

A high-specification miniature 5MPixel 1080p digital video camera module that plugs into the existing CSI connector S5 on the Raspberry Pi board. Suitable for Raspberry Pi Model A or B.
