YouTube on Windows Phone
A couple of weeks ago Microsoft released a new Windows Phone YouTube app which Google objected to as they said it broke the API terms as it didn’t have ads and enabled downloading of videos. Microsoft responded to the complaints by updating the app and removing the download options but it looks like Microsoft and Google have come to an agreement and will work together on building a new app that complies with Google’s terms. In a post on Mary J Foley’s blog a statement from Google and Microsoft says that the new will enable ads and will be available in the coming weeks. In the meantime the app to revert to the previous mobile web shortcut app. It would be good to see Google and Microsoft to work together on bring Google apps to the Windows Store.

“Microsoft and YouTube are working together to update the new YouTube for Windows Phone app to enable compliance with YouTube’s API terms of service, including enabling ads, in the coming weeks. Microsoft will replace the existing YouTube app in Windows Phone Store with the previous version during this time.”
