Yesterday Microsoft released a batch of updates for Windows 8 and Windows RT that improves the performance of many of the built in Windows apps including Mail and People apps. There had been lots of complaints about the performance of the Mail app on the Surface RT, yesterday’s updates do go some way to resolving the issues but there are still other problems with the Surface. One of the most common issues seems to be Limited Connectivity when connecting to WiFi, something I get often when tethering my phones data connection.
Microsoft in a post on the Surface Blog have said that still plan further improvements to the Surface RT and Surface Pro. There are going to be updates to fix the Limited Connectivity bug and an update to enable Surface Pen pressure to work in Adobe Photoshop. Unfortunately there are still no details as to when the Surface Pro will be released outside the US.
When we started working on Surface we put the customer experience at the heart of all that we did. That is still true today and as such, over the coming months, you’ll continue to see updates and improvements made available to both Surface RT and Surface Pro customers. This includes further updates to the wireless system to reduce the instances where Limited Connectivity is reported as well as an update to the Surface Pen driver to enable pressure functionality in Adobe Photoshop with Surface Pro.
We know many of you are waiting for an update on specific dates for Surface Pro availability. Please rest assured that while we don’t have anything specific to share right now, we’ll let you know in a follow-up blog post just as soon as we do.
