To go with the new version of XBMC (version 12) there is a new version of the offical Android remote app. The updated version is needed due to changes in the API backend of XBMC but the app doesn’t contain any new features however the XBMC team say a next-gen version is in the works.
This is a release update for XBMC v12.0 codename Frodo, which was released January 2013. Please note that running this with previous versions of XBMC may result in weird behavior due to API changes.
